India Blocks Virus Drug Exports Sometimes Touched By Trump
India Blocks Virus Drug exports described By Trump
India banned all shipments of hydroxychloroquine, a malaria drug that was regularly described
by President Donald Trump in the battle against Covid-19 as a "game changer."
Trump has said the federal government is stockpiling millions of
the medication doses to make them affordable to people with coronavirus.
On Sunday, Surgeon General Jerome Adams said there have been "few reports, few
rumors" of "helping" with hydroxychloroquine and the treatment has been available for years.
here is no definitive scientific evidence that hydroxychloroquine can cure the new pathogen infection,
and the US Food and Drug Administration has not approved the use of Covid-19
The ban represents India's growing concern about the rapid spread of coronavirus,
with threats of population spread that to 1.3 billion people in the world.
India, according to the federal health ministry, has reported
3,374 positive cases so far, and has lost 77 lives.
The nation has worked to hold residents inside
during a three-week lockout that started on March 25.
NEW DELHI: The government has tightened the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine export ban requirements by adding special economic
zones (SEZs) under its prohibition ambit to ensure that there is no shortage during the Covid-19 crisis.
US President Donald Trump said he requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release
the volume of hydroxychloroquine ordered by the United States following India last month
Normally the export ban or government-imposed restrictions do not apply to these zones
as well as EOUs, which are specifically intended to promote the country's outbound shipments.
In the case of export restrictions imposed on certain APIs and formulations, the government
clarified that units in special economic zones (SEZs) would not be subject to these curbs.
